Leo XIV Strengthens Papal Control Over Eastern Catholic Patriarchs

Today, Leo XIV issued the Motu Proprio Mutua concordia, setting out “an orderly procedure for the removal of a Patriarch from office by the Synod of Bishops” of an Eastern Catholic Church.
The new rules allow a synod, for a grave reason, to ask a patriarch to resign. If he refuses, the bishops can proceed to a secret vote on his removal, in which at least two-thirds of the synod’s voting members must take part.
The synod does not have the final word.
Leo XIV reserved to the Roman Pontiff “the granting of assent to the synodal decision.”
The removal only takes legal effect after the Pope gives his assent.

Catholic Priest Presides Buddhist Memorial in Church

Worse than Germany: A memorial ceremony for Buddhist woman Marta Pezzati, 59, was held on August 20 in the Catholic Church of San Martino in Rebbio, Como, Italy.
Pezzati was president of the volunteer association Como Accoglie and was well known locally for her work assisting migrants and refugees.
The ceremony was hosted by the parish priest Giusto Della Valle, who had worked with Pezzati on initiatives involving migrants.
Two Buddhist monks participated in the ceremony.
One of the monks later told LaNuovaBq.it that the event was “not a Mass and not even a funeral, but a remembrance of Marta's generosity.” He said there had been no Catholic liturgy or Catholic prayer.
Priest: “She Found God in Budddha”
Video recordings show Father Della Valle and another Catholic priest present wearing an alb and stole.
During the ceremony, the two Buddhist monks chanted a Buddhist mantra from the ambo.
Father Della Valle also spoke about Pezzati's Buddhist faith.
He described her as a “woman of …Ebisinga

God’s Will Requires A Transformed Mind
The first reading highlights Jeremiah’s struggle with God’s will, questioning why God allows suffering despite his call to preach. The second reading emphasizes the need for a transformed mind to discern God’s will, which often involves trials and suffering. These trials, while challenging, are necessary for spiritual growth and strengthening our faith, ultimately conforming us to Christ.
God desires us to be the center of our lives, loving Him with all our heart, soul, and strength, and striving to do His will. This requires a transformation of our minds, aligning our thoughts and desires with His, which can only be achieved through prayer and a commitment to living according to His teachings. While this path may be challenging, it leads to fulfillment, peace, and joy, as it conforms us to our true nature as beings created in His image.

Today, Leo XIV appointed Auxiliary Bishop Lizardo Estrada Herrera O.S.A., 52, of Cuzco, Peru, as the Coadjutor Archbishop of the same Archdiocese. He will thus be the successor to Archbishop Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia, 74.
Just two weeks ago, the new Archbishop offered to the idol Pachamama.
Leo XIV Personally Formed Estrada
Born in Cotabambas in 1973, Monsignor Estrada joined the Augustinians and was ordained a priest in 2005. Pope Francis appointed Estrada auxiliary bishop of Cuzco in January 2021.
In May 2025, Bishop Estrada told VaticanNews.va, that Leo XIV was already his professor, his spiritual director within the Augustinians, and then his Prior General. Finally they served together within the Peruvian episcopate.
Bishop Prevost was a concelebrant at the priestly ordination of Estrada and his episcopal co-consecrator.

For decades, legend claimed that the pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima became a Carthusian monk at Serra San Bruno in Calabria.
The truth was different. Father Tony Lehmann, a former U.S. soldier, visited Hiroshima after the war and, deeply affected by its devastation, chose to become a “man of peace.” He later joined the Carthusians, living at Serra San Bruno, before becoming a Jesuit devoted to pastoral service.
He was no “penitent pilot,” but a witness to Hiroshima who chose peace, prayer and service. Father Tony died of leukemia on March 8, 2002, aged 73.

Silicon Valley “Neighborhood Masses” Fuse Eucharist and Community Organizing.
Worse than Germany: One Saturday a month, Rev. Rick Rodoni, pastor of St. Lucy Parish in the heart of Silicon Valley, celebrates pop-up “Neighborhood Masses.” Posters declare that “everyone is welcome!” The Eucharist is celebrated in a parking area, with a makeshift altar and folding chairs. The liturgy is combined with “community listening sessions.” After the Liturgy of the Word, tables are available for neighbors to express their concerns “during the Mass.”

Silicon Valley pop-up Masses bring church and communities together

Campbell, Calif. — August 28, 2026 One Saturday a month, in a central Silicon Valley neighborhood, residents stop to read handmade signs taped to poles: "Misa del Barrio. ¡Todos son bienvenidos! Neighborhood Catholic Mass. You are very welcome." These posters advertise outdoor pop-up Masses, known as Misas del Barrio, which pair the liturgy with community listening sessions. "Community, forming bonds, ritual: These have always been important to the church," said Fr. Rick Rodoni, pastor of the community's parish, St. Lucy. "At the Misas, we have the opportunity to listen to each other, to offer change and to express our faith in a neighborhood, where literally, at 9 a.m. in the morning, we're singing and praising the Lord in a parking lot." At residents' request, Masses are held in low-rise apartment parking spaces, where more than 50 folding chairs face a makeshift altar. Volunteers from multiple parishes contribute music and hospitality. Tables are also set up where the neighbors can …

What the New U.S. Report on FBI Surveillance against Catholics Shows

On August 28, the U.S. Justice Department released a 231-page report on the FBI’s 2023 Richmond Catholic memo, including evidence of surveillance of traditionalist Catholic clergy.
The FBI investigated two priests and conducted surveillance connected to them. One belonged to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX); the other, his uncle, was associated with SSPX Resistance and had been ordained by Bishop Richard Williamson.
Agents researched travel and credit-card records. FBI personnel in Boston surveilled the second priest at the airport, while Customs and Border Protection questioned him and searched his phone.
Both investigations were subsequently closed after the FBI found no identified national-security threat and no alleged violation of federal law.
Among the exhibits in the DOJ report is an FBI PowerPoint titled “Traditionalist Catholicism Overview” - essentially a rudimentary guide to the various traditionalist Catholic groups and sects.
Remarkably, the presentation included …Ebisinga

If you read the slides on "Radical Traditional Catholicism" you will see that for the FBI any Catholic who adheres to and professes all the Magisterial teaching, Encyclicals and Apostolic letters on Church and State, family and morality of previous Popes before Vatican II (and, indeed, the Ten Commandments) should be profiled as a terrorist.
The FBI makes a complete caricature of what those teachings are and represent, claiming such nonsense as Traditional Catholics believe in a "totalitarian Catholic confessional State".
They even portray the fundamental principle of “Error has no rights” as being problematic and indicative of "radical Traditionalism". Tell that to God, Who holds the same principles. So Hell is a terroristic construct?

Can You Still Trust the Catholic Church?

Video >> youtube.com/watch?v=5JhDztHlzL8
Father Thomas Joseph White is a Dominican priest, theologian, and rector of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome. One of the leading Catholic theologians of his generation, his work focuses on metaphysics, Christology, ecclesiology, Thomism, and the relationship between faith and reason. He is the author of numerous books, including The Light of Christ: An Introduction to Catholicism.
In this conversation, he explores the theological meaning of the Vatican, the papacy, and the Catholic Church's claim to teach with authority in matters of faith and morals. He discusses the role of the Pope, the nature of Catholic doctrine, the relationship between conscience and truth, and how Catholics understand the development and transmission of Christian teaching through history.

Russia could have used nukes in Ukraine but chose restraint – top MP

Russia does not resort to terror tactics and seeks to avoid harming civilians, LDPR party head Leonid Slutsky has told Tucker Carlson Russia could have long ago used tactical nuclear weaponry to achieve victory against Ukraine, but it has always sought to minimize collateral damage, Leonid Slutsky, the head of Russia’s Liberal-Democratic Party (LDPR), has said. The senior MP, who chairs the Russian State Duma International Affairs Committee, made the remarks in an interview with conservative American journalist and podcaster Tucker Carlson that aired on Saturday. Slutsky said Moscow would only opt for nuclear weaponry against Kiev if its Western sponsors supplied Ukraine with weapons of mass destruction. The politician expressed hope that the situation would not deteriorate to that point. In any other scenario, use of nuclear weaponry against Ukraine would not fit Moscow’s approach and vision, the MP stated. “We could have used them long ago and achieved victory, but we always rely on …
