On the Easter Vigil of 4 April 2026, His Beatitude, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, presided over a solemn celebration at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before the empty tomb. This concluded the Sacred Triduum and proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Solemn Procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament at the conclusion of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jerusalem, celebrated this morning by His Beatitude Pierbattista Cardinal Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.
I'm sure it wasn't the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. It was a communal meal worship service modeled after the one invented by Cranmer for the English during the Protestant Reformation. Luther hated any liturgy that smacked of sacrifice. We had to do away with sacrifice.

Cardinal Pizzaballa today in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre: “We are in the place where a stone once sealed death. And yet today we are here to celebrate life. There is a tension we cannot ignore: outside, the doors of the Holy Sepulchre are closed. War has turned this place into a refuge, an “inside” cut off from an “outside” weighed down by fear and strain. We are here as within a womb of peace, while the world around us is being torn apart, and we wish we could change all of this. And yet, here and now, the Word of God places before us a gesture that overturns all our human ways of thinking."
Jeruzalemský kardinál Pierbattista Pizzaballa dnes ráno slávil Večeru Pánovu v Kostole Božieho hrobu. Umyl nohy dvanástim bratom. Vo svojej homílii povedal: "Je tu napätie, ktoré nemôžeme ignorovať: vonku sú dvere kostola Božieho hrobu zatvorené. Vojna premenila toto miesto na útočisko, na 'vnútro' odrezané od 'vonkajška', ktoré je zaťažené strachom a napätím. Sme tu ako v lone pokoja, zatiaľ čo svet okolo nás sa trhá na kusy, a želáme si, aby sme to všetko mohli zmeniť."
